Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)

LEED
is a set of rating systems for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings, homes and neighborhoods.

LEED Design Credits

FCM Engineering performs the calculations and requirements of the following USGBC LEED credits for NC, CI, and C&S:

  • Light Pollution Reduction

  • Water Use Reduction (20% prerequisite and additional points)

  • Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning of Building Energy Systems

  • Minimum and Optimize Energy Performance (Energy Modeling or prescriptive path consulting)

  • Measurement & Verification, Option 3 (EAc5 for new construction)

  • Green Power Renewable Energy Credit (REC’s) consulting and purchase

  • Fundamental and Enhanced refrigerant management

  • Minimum Indoor air quality prerequisite (compliance calculations for ASHRRAE 62.1)

  • Outdoor Air Delivery Monitoring

  • Controllability of Systems – Lighting and HVAC

  • Thermal Comfort Design and Verification

Indoor Air Quality Testing

LEED Credit IEQ 3.2, option 2

FCM Engineering performs LEED Indoor Air Quality Testing per LEED 2009 for New Construction and Major Renovations IEQ Credit 3.2: Construction Indoor Air Quality Plan-Before Occupancy OPTION 2 Air Testing.

Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC),
LEED is intended to help building owners and operators be environmentally responsible and use resources efficiently.

LEED Administration

FCM Engineering can assist owners and project managers with the administration of the LEED rating system. Assigning, tracking, and completing the LEED credits can be time consuming for A/E firms and General Contractors. Subcontracting out this effort frees up time for the project management team to focus on their core responsibilities. FCM Engineering can take a project from concept to certification.
