Florida Green Building Coalition's

Green Commercial Building Standard

The intent of the
FGBC
Green Commercial Building Standard
is to encourage building owners to adopt green and sustainable strategies during the design and construction of their project and to receive recognition for their efforts.

Commercial Building Certification

To use the Florida Green Building Coalition Green Commercial Building Standard, the project design team determines which credit points will be pursued. FCM Engineering can serve as the Designated Professional. FCM Engineering compiles the appropriate documentation for each achieved credit point as the design process evolves and serves as the communication contact with FGBC during the certification review process.

The certification process includes four steps:

  • Initial registration of the project submitted with deposit to FGBC. An FGBC Project Evaluator is assigned as a technical resource for the project team.

  • FCM Engineering, along with the project team, determine which credit points will be pursued.

  • The Final Application with credit points indicated and supporting documentation are submitted to FGBC for review.

  • Review and certification of the project.

When the project achieves the required score for certification, the FGBC issues a certificate and the project is listed on the FGBC website as a certified Florida Green Commercial Building. The FGBC will also issue a press release announcing the project certification and feature the project in
Florida Green Building magazine.

FGBC Administration

Once all documentation has been collected, organized, and reviewed by the project team, FCM Engineering completes the final application and supporting documents and prepares the submission to FGBC.

When the project achieves the required score for certification, the FGBC issues a certificate for use by the owner. The project is listed on the FGBC website as a certified Florida Green Commercial Building. The FGBC will also issue a press release announcing the project certification and feature the project in Florida Green Building magazine.
